Steph Sharp is a finance expert and negotiator at Ferax Consulting who advises large corporations and government on finance, capital markets, economics, fairness, procurement, and negotiations for major projects and initiatives.
Roles: Over the past 3 decades, Steph has advised more than 500 clients on a range of transactions valued in excess of $20 billion (including 40 startups). Her roles include Senior Strategic Finance and Business Advisor, Lead Negotiator and/or Procurement Process Monitor/Advisor on projects ranging from $20 million to $1.0 billion in value.
Public Sector: In 1999, Steph applied her investment banking background to public sector transactions, leading her in to the endlessly fascinating and rewarding public sector arena. She enjoys the challenge of pulling together two diverse worlds to ensure that projects are simultaneously cost-effective and socially responsible. Through this experience balancing public interest and finance, she developed her expertise in fairness and triple bottom line assessments.
Private Sector: Over the past 30 years, Steph has been a finance and business advisor to small, medium and large corporations in North America, Asia and South Africa. Her clients operate in many industries including banking, retail, technology, heavy equipment, mining, shipping, precision manufacturing, food processing, hospitality, wholesale, hospitality, and healthcare.
Workshops and Training: She incorporates executive development into all of her advisory services, culminating in the development of 5 unique executive training programs specifically designed to provide advanced financial, economic and negotiation skills in a matter of hours, rather than weeks or months. These programs leverage an executive’s deep experience to accelerate learning of advanced concepts.
Speaking Engagements: Steph is a frequent speaker on various issues, including financial communication, economics, integrating finance into operations and projects, financial speedreading, negotiation tactics, strategy and implementation.
Education: She holds an MBA from University of Toronto and a BA from Queen’s University. She has completed her Partner, Director, Officer, Registered Representative and Branch Manager qualifications through the Canadian Securities Institute as well as courses through the Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators, the Association for Investment Management and Research, and SFU (negotiations).
